
This is the best synthesis of Thomas More’s life and writings. It was published by the National Portrait Gallery, London, in 1977 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of his birth. James McConica (Luseland, Canada, 1930), professor emeritus of history (University of Toronto and Oxford), was president of the Institute of Medieval Studies and vice-chancellor of the University of St. Michael’s College. A specialist in the humanists of the 15th and 16th centuries, he chaired the editorial committee of the Complete Works of Erasmus, published by the University of Toronto.
